Omer Adam: Israel’s Hearthrob Singer

Jul/09/2020 22:26:14

Omer Adam is an Israeli singer who has won the hearts of many. His music is a mix of Mizrachi (Eastern) and Western pop. He was born on October 22, 1993, in the United States. Then, he and his family moved back to Israel and he came to grow up in Mishmas Hashiva, Israel.

Omer Adam comes from a military family. His father served in the special forces for the Israel Defense Forces. In the Israel Border Police, his paternal grandfather served as a senior commander. Omer Adam chose to serve in the army like almost every Israeli citizen, even though he could have recorded more albums instead. Coming from a family with such strong military connections, it’s no wonder.

Omer Adam is extremely popular among teenagers and adults alike. I always heard people singing to his addictive songs like “Tel Aviv” and “Shnei Meshugaim.” Every Friday dinner at my Israeli boarding school they would even blast his music on the loudspeakers. Everyone in the dining hall would sing along. Omer Adam was recognized as being the most popular Israeli recording artist of 2019.

As a show of his popularity, Omer Adam was invited to perform for the 2019 Eurovision being held in Israel. But, he declined this offer because the rehearsals would have been on a Saturday. He’s not strictly religious, but he prefers not to work on Saturdays. Omer Adam has grown into a very mature artist, and thus he chooses not to do interviews like many others. He likes to preserve his privacy and to keep his private life private.

Omer Adam was on Israel’s Kokhav Nolad (akin to America’s X-Factor) and reached the finals. He had already gained a lot of popularity just from this. Then, he caused a stir when it was revealed that he wasn’t of age to actually be on the show. He was just short of 16. With this, he became even more popular even though he was disqualified.
